Medical Service

While recognizing the important role played by the National Health Service, a specific medical need has been identified for timely physiotherapy and psychological therapies in response to physical and emotional traumas related to an individuals military service.

This need is being met by the creation of a MoD funded medical services facility located within the Police Rehabilitation and Retraining Trust (PRRT) in Maryfield, Belfast, to treat ex-service personnel and, in certain circumstances, their families.

When a request for treatment is made the clients eligibility to use the service is confirmed, PRRT will then invite the client for a clinical assessment to determine their suitability for treatment. Where the client and therapist have agreed together that benefit would be gained from the range of medical services on offer, treatment will commence. Psychological assessments and treatment will be delivered at Maryfield near Belfast. Clients seeking physiotherapy will be assessed at Maryfield, however those living outside the Greater Belfast area may be offered treatment from a PRRT associate closer to their home.
